Cribbage Meets on Thursday, 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Cribbage evolved from an earlier English game called “Noddy,” and the man credited with inventing it is Sir John Suckling, a wealthy English poet. Cribbage affords players both the anticipation of the luck of the deal as well as ample opportunity to exercise their skills in discarding and play. One of the novel features of Cribbage is that a Cribbage board is used for scoring rather than the usual pencil and paper. The rectangular wooden board is equipped with holes that accommodate pegs. The board speeds up scoring, and in this fast-moving game, pegging greatly reduces the chances for errors in computing scores. Beginners & players of all skill levels welcome. For more information, please call Ken at 843-756-1795

Do you enjoy a challenging game of chess? Join us.

Chess Club Meets on Tuesday, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

If you want a new challenge, join the Southwest Brunswick Branch Library chess club. All ages and skill levels are welcome. No registration required.

A little about chess:

Basic Rules:

o Chess is a two-player game, where one player is assigned white pieces and the other black. Each player has 16 pieces to start the game: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns

Aim of the game:

o The object of the game is to capture the other player’s king. This capture is never actually completed, but once a king is under attack and unable to avoid capture, it is said to be checkmated and the game is over.

Adult Coloring

Book Club

NC Writers Network

Relax with other adults while coloring beautiful pictures.

Adult Coloring Meets on Tuesday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Join us at the library for adult coloring. Relax, reduce stress and have fun! All materials are provided by the Southwest Brunswick Friends of the Library.

“Coloring pages are no longer just for children. Indeed, coloring books are selling well in the adult market. Here, one might ask why grown-up men and women are so keen to color mandalas, zentangles, animals, famous paintings, sugar sculls, patterns, doodles and other intricate coloring images. The answer is simple. It is all about anti-stress effects of coloring that allow us to find a lot of tranquility, to reduce anxiety and to bring more mindfulness. So, take a crayon, relax and find your zen in the chaos of adult life.” http://www.supercoloring.com/collections/coloring-pages-for-adult

Learn how to stretch and relax with Chair Yoga.

Chair Yoga Meets Thursday. 9:00am - 10:30am

Come join us each Tuesday for Chair Yoga. This class is suitable for those individuals with injuries or other limitations. This is an extra gentle practice done mostly seated in a chair for ease of movement and balance. Classes are $8.00 each.

“Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who cannot stand, lack the mobility to move easily from standing to seated to supine positions, or want a quick break from office work. Many of the basic body mechanics of the individual postures remain the same. While seated on chairs, students can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends and mild backbends. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, stress reduction, better sleep and an improved sense of well-being.” https://www.verywellfit.com/chair-yoga-poses-3567189
